Paraguayan international forward, Nelson Haedo Valdez, has elected to pass on an offer to join the Seattle Sounders in MLS. The 29-year-old had been approached by Seattle a few weeks ago but has decided to remain with his current club, Valencia CF, in the Spanish La Liga. The striker is currently on loan with Valencia from Russian outfit Ruben Kazan that included a $3 million Euro purchase option. Valencia is believed to be picking up this option due to a matches played clause and will sign Valdez through 2015. He first came to prominence in Europe in the Bundesliga while playing for Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund. Valdez hasn’t ruled out the possibility of playing in the U.S. in the future but has reiterated his desire to remain in Europe for now. The Sounders will have to continue their search for a replacement for the outgoing Fredy Montero. Montero is believed to be signing a 1 year loan deal that will see him going back to his native country of Colombia and play for Millionarios, who are in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores.
